Mark your calendars! Sunday, August 1st, we will be meeting in Freeman Park for one unified service, at 10:00AM. This is a time for your whole family to gather with the entire Watersprings family for worship, fellowship, study, baptism, and of course, a barbecue picnic lunch. Grab your lawn chairs, Bibles, bring the whole family, and come as you are. Typically, the first weekend in August is when Watersprings gathers at Freeman Park for our annual “Church in the Park.” In 2020, however, the COVID protocols required by Parks and Recreation put the kibosh on our plans, so we had to postpone for a whole year. But by the grace of God, this year we are back in business, and we could not be more excited.
Worship will begin promptly at 10:00, and then Pastor Ty will share a clear and concise Gospel message. Be sure to invite your unsaved friends, family, and neighbors. There will be a team of readied altar-call workers to pray with people who want to make their commitment to Christ, and of course, believer’s baptism in the river immediately following. Multiple teams of pastors and elders will be waiting and ready to baptize those who wish to make that public profession of faith by following the Lord in obedience through baptism. If you would like more information on what it means to be baptized and why every believer in Christ should be baptized, you can pick up our booklet in the Resource Center, “Let’s Talk About Baptism,” or call the church office and make an appointment to speak with one of the pastors.
Of course, “Church in the Park” would not be complete without the annual picnic lunch. Watersprings provides grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, and you provide the rest for your families. TheREV will have their booth set up, so swing by and meet Gary Austin, the “Voice of the Valley,” and Dennis Crowley, your Daily News Update anchor. Also, Greenhouse Coffee always brings their booth and they will make specialty drinks and coffee available for purchase. Water bottles will be provided. Watersprings KidMin will have games and activities for the kiddos, and you are certainly encouraged to bring some of your own.
Church in the Park is always a great time for the whole family so we encourage you to start preparing now by praying and planning on who you will invite. Come early, and get a good spot to park your chairs, blankets, and family.
